I found a tutorial at Crafters Hours and decided to use that for the pattern, which is very well written and easy to follow. I omitted the pockets but followed the rest. I mis-read the instructions, I used the elastic for the entire waistband piece.
I used some eyelet from fabric.com and batiste for the lining. The eyelet's right side is very shiny, not a look I wanted, so I used the wrong side which looks fine and has no shine.

Instead of using the eyelet for the waistband, I just used the batiste.
here is my finished skirt
Pretty summer skirt. I really like your eyelet fabric too. Some eyelets can look a bit cheap but not yours.
ReplyDeleteI picked out eyelet fabric this weekend, but put it back after finding out it was the only fabric NOT on sale. lol. Your skirt looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteIt suits you. I like the way you used the batiste at the waist. It would reduce bulk.
ReplyDeleteI had that eyelet in my cart a couple of times but haven't purchased it yet LOL! Nice tip on the waistband treatment, thanks. And I need to check out that Cabi site......:-)
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! I want one too! Thanks for the links.
ReplyDeleteDitto above comments. Do you love that skirt, because it is deserving of love! Your flower gardens are so pretty. You've put a lot of work into them. How do you stand to work them though, when it's so hot?
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty skirt and like the idea of using the matte side of the fabric.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I have an eyelet skirt that I bought at Kohl's about 4 years ago and I love it. I wear it all summer! Yours is really nice.
ReplyDeleteThat is so perfect for summer. Just this morning I was looking in my closet thinking I needed to finally make myself a white eyelet skirt. I bought fabric a few summers ago and never got around to it - guess this is my sign to get busy. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! It actually reminds me of a Vogue pattern from the early 80s that had a full skirt, cami and jacket all sewn from eyelet fabric. I sewed them all and wore those pieces until they were threadbare. Hope you get as much wear out of yours!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy Cabi for inspiration, too. Your skirt is really cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat little summer skirt.
ReplyDeleteAh, a white eyelet skirt...the essence of summer. Love it!
ReplyDeleteLori - it's a great skirt and I love how you flipped the fabric and used the wrong side.
ReplyDeleteI love it , you cannot beat a white skirt for Summer .
