Pattern Sizing: Size A (6-18). I made a 10, was a bit big in the waist
Instructions: They were easy to follow with lots of extras for the new sewer. I think this is a great feature plus it is on a cute and stylish pattern.
Changes: The pattern calls for the pockets to be finished with bias binding. I used the pocket pattern and used it like a facing and it worked fine. Much better than bias with this fabric. Different fabrics and styles call for different treatments with bias and/or facings.
I also used an invisible zipper in the backFabric: A stretch cotton from Joann's, very nice.
Conclusion: A great pattern for a new or experienced person, plus it is cute and stylish. Great for all types of fabric.
Meredith ready for school |
Kwik Sew denim jacket I had made years ago for Erin, it is too short in the sleeves for Meredith but just roll the sleeves. |

Also, another Simplicity 2512 this time for Kaitlyn with the tie longer so it can be worn in a bow
Running late for school, allowed one picture, oops bow crooked and skirt tuck on tights! |
Beautiful skirts! I really love the recent makes I have seen from Simplicity 2226, so its on my list for the next simplicity pattern sale. The red CR skirt looks great with the bow, so I appreciate the alteration tips you mentioned in the previous post. (I found some of that great purple rayon blend at Joann's, so thanks for the tip! Its always great to find decent fabrics at Joann. Especially because I am newer to sewing for myself, and not ready to buy and potentially ruin expensive fabric yet).
ReplyDeleteVery, very cute - both skirts! You're lucky to have your daughters with you so that you can make all these adorable items.
ReplyDeleteCute skirts, Lori. I have to laugh. I just finished a skirt with a pocket from Simplicity that had a facing. I didn't like this and used bias instead. Poor Simplicity can't win. :) Btw, I think bias versus facing depends a lot on your choice of fabric, the pocket and personal preference. I use either, it just depends on my fabric.
ReplyDeleteBoth skirts are cute!
ReplyDeleteSoooo pretty. They are well suited for winter, but I can so see them for spring.
ReplyDeleteGreat skirts!! Your daughters are luckly gals. ;)
ReplyDeleteCute skirts!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute. Great styling and fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteThose are such cute skirts. I like them with the leggings. Young, stylish outfits.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Cute, quick projects....and I don't think these will be the last ones you make from this pattern!
ReplyDeletePretty skirts and have the yellow floral print in a poly fabric.
