Butterick 5796
PIcture on a person:
Line drawing:
illustration of view I made:
D
Description: From the BMV web site: "MISSES' MATERNITY TOP AND PANTS: Pullover top has neckline variations and stitched hems. A and B: opening for twisted draped effect. C and D: collar extends into drape. A, B, C and D: close-fitting. E: loose-fitting, drawstring sides, and purhased tank top. C, D and E: double-layered collar. Close-fitting, boot-legged pants have yokes with raised waist. All have stitched hems.
Sizes: 8 to 24
Instructions: They were pretty easy to follow, but I did have a bit of difficulty figuring out the twisted drape of view B. After some trial and error, I figured it out.
Likes/Dislikes: So many options for different looks.
Changes: First off, Butterick has you sew the sleeves in the round. I did them flat and then sewed the side seams and sleeves in one continuous seam. Also, the side ruching is with elastic in the side seams. I didn’t really care for this and after sewing several of Megan Nielsen's ruched tshirt, I wanted more of that look. To achieve this, I took 4” off the back, then gathered the front to match the shortened back. I probably could have taken 3-4 more inches off the back.
Fabric: A thin striped jersey knit from stash.
Conclusion: Another cute top for Erin, it is a bit long but it will look cute with leggings and jeans.
Hard to photograph without the pillow taped to the dressform.

The illustration doesn't do justice to the top.Finished garments look different from the drawings. That top will definitely look super with leggings or skinny pants.
ReplyDeleteI love the side detail on the neckline. I hope your daughter gets good wear out of it.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! really cute detail.
ReplyDeleteI love the stripe you've chosen for this top. It's an cute top too.
