First I ordered Mood Fabrics' Silk Floral Voile in June, isn't it soooo pretty? The flowers are very large scale, just wait until you see my top.
Also, in June I ordered Deer and Doe's Datura Blouse, which comes from France and the pattern arrived the first week of August.

We have had a lot going on here the first few weeks in August. Erin, her hubby and the grandbaby moved in with us, they are building a house. Paige and her hubby bought a house that needs work and I have gone up a couple of times to paint. Then last week we moved the twins into college. Yes, there were tears shed and I still catch myself with some watery eyes. The good thing, they are not far away.
Back to sewing and the blouse, this week I cut it out and got started. The pattern comes with two instruction booklets, one in French and one in English. I was very impressed with the instructions and the top was easy to construct. I only had one time to unsew and it was all my fault, forgot to turn the front bodice right sides out. I did find their method of constructing the bodice and lining to be amazingly easy with fantastic results.
So here is the top, see what I mean about the scale? I love the size and tried to be careful not to have the middle of the flower in any bulls-eye area.
I can wear it with jeans and shorts with the sleeveless look or I can wear it with a cardigan or jacket.
I am thrilled to get this top done before the end of August. I did change the hemline. The instructions have you hem with a bias self-fabric facing. I just serged the bottom and turned up the hem.
Let's talk sizing, I chose my size by the measurements on the chart, which was a 42. Usually with Burda I make a 38 or a 40. I ended up taking the top in at the side seams. Next time it will be a 40 at the bust and 38 for the rest of the top.
I really like the back with the bodice and the buttoned lower back, just a little extra detail. I did baste the side seams, sewed the buttonholes and buttons on the top. This helped with the fitting but was a bit different than their order.
A fun top from some really unique fabric and I will enjoy wearing it for the rest of summer.
Very pretty!
