My next project for Mood Sewing Network is a Rigel Bomber by Papercut Patterns
And I am using this wonderful wool denim from Mood Fabrics
Here is the description, from Italy, a wool denim that's as soft as an old sweater. Medium-weight. We'd make this into boxy tops and jackets.
I am going to quilt the sleeves. I have some lightweight quilt batting which I layered with a piece of the wool denim. I used my quilt ruler to make a 45 degree line from the selvedge. I stitched with a 3.0 stitch and my walking foot.
I used this attachment for the spacing
and here is one piece with the quilted cross-hatch lines
I lightened the picture so you could see the stitching. I tell you this was the hardest stitching lines to see. I put my finger on the previous line and I could feel the stitching, that helped to guide the fabric.
One sleeve panel is complete and I will work on the other one tomorrow night. After I finish the quilting I will cut out the sleeves.
I am looking forward to working on this jacket.
Love how soft the fabric looks. Should make a real cozy jacket.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is so cool! I'm so impressed that you went to the trouble to quilt it! Can't wait to see the finished jacket!
