Upcoming Anniversary Giveaway #2

I posted here about this being my 8th year blogging here at Girls in the Garden.  Last month, I gave away a quilt and plan to do a giveaway five more times.
This one will be a two part giveaway......

First part in this will be a gift card to Mood Fabrics, I love shopping online and want to share that experience with you.

And that is not all....these fabrics.   A silk for the lining on this quilted fabric. What will you make?  Maybe a jacket?  Maybe a skirt?

I won several yards of different fabric a few years ago and used much of it but not these two pieces.  They are so beautiful, I want to pass it on and I don't feel right they have just been hanging in my closet.

So tell me what you might make with this fabric or what you might purchase with your gift card.

I will draw for the winner on April 10th, the entries will close April 9th

Thanks again for all you comments, emails and just for being a great sewing friends.

Disclosure - the gift card will be purchased by me and emailed to you in the amount of $50

  1. You are very generous, Lori! I've never purchased from Mood, so I would probably be totally overwhelmed, but I've been wanting to make a couple of simple tanks for summer out of sand washed silk, so maybe I would purchase fabric for one? The quilted fabric is gorgeous and would make a lovely jacket! Although I could also see it becoming a lovely bag for fall, too.

  2. What a generous giveaway! I too see a lovely jacket in that quilted fabric. I've never shopped at Mood, so that would be a treat as well. Happy anniversary!

  3. My favorite fabrics from Mood are their printed cottons so I would buy more for summer shift dresses. I think the quilted fabric would make a fabulous skirt, but not sure where I would wear it.
    Thanks for the give-a-way.

  4. I'd definitely get some rayon jersey with the gift card and would make a pencil skirt with the fabric!

  5. From Mood, I think I would get ponte. With the fabric, I might make a skirt. Thanks so much for the chance at this giveaway.

  6. Oooh. This is so fun! I'd make a skirt. Maybe Colette Zinnia? I've never bought from Mood either. I "window" shop there several times a week. I'm totally gaga for their jersey prints! They are perfect for making my summer mommy wardrobe a little more fly.

Thanks for your blog and congrats! I found you during one of my visits to the Mood website.

  7. I'd make myself a dress with a wide skirt. I'm 6 months pregnant now and can't fit into anything, so I want to make myself a beautiful dress to wear after I get rid of the baby weight!

Hello Lori. What a generous giveaway. Is this open worldwide or just to USA residents?

  9. I would make a pencil skirt with a kick pleat and a bow tie sleeveless top out of the silk....beautiful fabric. Very nice of you

  10. How generous of you. The quilted jacket would be sewn into a jacket and who know with a gift card - maybe a wool jersey as Mood is one of the few sources for it.

  11. Thanks for the give-a-way! I would probably purchase some nice jersey from the Mood gift card if I win it, and most certainly would make a jacket from the lovely fabric you are giving away!

  12. From Mood I would look for voile or lawn fabric to make some light summer tops. The lovely quilted fabric might become some kind of sleeveless vest. Thank you!

  15. WOW. That quilted fabric is gorgeous. I'd make a jacket with it if there is enough. I loved your Rigel jacket.

  16. I visited (and loaded up my suitcase) Mood last April but have yet to purchase online so a gift card would be great! The fabrics are fabulous. I would make a moto jacket as it would be a bit unexpected. Karen

  17. That quilted fabric looks beautiful. I would probably make a jacket and a blouse from the blue.

  18. Your blog is already a gift! You have inspired me to get back to sewing. I would make my daughter a blouse from the blue silk. She has never worn silk yet, and there will be no going back once she does. The quilted fabric? I'm thinking outside the box, maybe some luxe placemats?

  19. Happy anniversary Lori! What a great giveaway. I;m not sure what I'd do with the quilted fabric--a jacket seems obvious, but I'd want to play with it before I decided. I do know exactly what I'd do with a Mood gift card--use it to buy fabric for a dress to wear to my brother's wedding.

Happy Anniversary. Thank you for a wonderful blog. I have learned to much from you.

I think I would make a jacket with quilted fabric. If the material lends itself to it, I would try do some sort of color blocking. I would use the blue fabric to make a draped blouse. I would buy buttons or other embellishments for the jacket or blouse with the gift certificate.

I would buy black striped fabric to make PR best pattern of 2014 Vogue "Shingles" Dress with the $100 gift card. If would also buy some knit fabric to make my 14 week old grandson a knit shirt. How could I help doing that with such beautiful fabric and a beautiful new grandson!

Oh dear, am I "stretching" a $100 gift certificate too far? :-)

    1. Yes, a little too far, planning on a $50 gift certificate.:) I reread my post and I didn't see anywhere I had stated how much. So I did put this in the disclaimer.

  21. Oh my! I've been searching everywhere for coordinating knits to make Marcy Tilton's Vogue 8975. Mood would surely have a great selection. I see the quilted fabric as a gorgeous vest.

  22. Happy Anniversary! I've enjoyed your blog all these years :) I see a jacket out of the fabric. I've never shopped at Mood, so that would be a total treat!

  23. Mood is such a fabulous place to shop for fabric - I have a white blazer on my sewing list so I would certainly look for something for that project. As for the fabric - I'm thinking a jacket and possibly a clutch bag. What a great give away Lori!

Congratulations on your blogiversary! I've been lusting after pencil skirts with dramatic floral prints, and I bet Mood would be the perfect place to find the right fabric (I haven't looked yet--I'm trying to resist!). The fabric you posted is gorgeous, but I would have to feel it before deciding what to make.

Me again :-) I would love to try some thakoon cotton that all you mood bloggers rave about. The quilted fabric would make a fab clutch bag or a jacket. Thanks Lori!

  26. Beautiful fabric Lori. The fabric shown is calling out to be a jacket of some sort. Gorgeous colours. If I won the Mood voucher I think I would choose a silk for a blouse.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have several fabrics pinned on my mood board so would definitely pick one of those - I want to make some skirts for summer. I think the quilted fabric would be a fun pencil skirt for a night out! thanks for sharing all your fun gifts with one of us!

  28. It's crazy, but I'd have to actually let that fabric talk to me a bit before I decided what to do with it. Jacket? Vest? Hm....

As for a gift card from Mood, I'd probably hang on to it until my next offspring decides to get married and then use it for a 'Mother of the...' outfit. But since none are even dating, that could be a while...

Love your blog, and I love the setting for your pics. As a midwest farmer's daughter now living on a city lot in the south, they always make me a bit homesick...

  29. Happy anniversary Lori, reading your blog has been a real inspiration. I love the way and what you sew. I think that fabric would be wonderful for a cute classic jacket.

  30. The quilted fabric would make a gorgeous jacket. From Mood I'd get a luscious lining for the winter coat I'm making next year. I already have the body fabric.

  31. Happy anniversary, Lori! It's been a pleasure following you these past few years. As far as that fabric, a very sculpted big volume jacket might look great. I think the quilted fabric could really lend itself to that look. I love the colors, gorgeous.

  32. What a wonderful giveaway! I see a Chanel like jacket with the fabrics. The quilted fabric needs to be something that makes a statement. For the gift card, a lovely lightweight wool for a skirt in a coordinating color.

  38. Lori, thank you so much for your blog. When I started reading blogs about a year ago, I think yours was my first. I loved that you sewed for your girls and they always looked so lovely. The fabrics are beautiful and would make a great jacket with simple lines. The gift card could be anything and is great for dreaming with. I hope to read your blog for many more years. Thanks for letting celebrate with you.

  39. I would love to be able to shop at Mood - since it's usually out of my price range, I honestly don't know what I'd buy. Maybe I would try a silk. And your other fabric is beautiful, I'd probably try a jacket. I enjoy your blog!

  40. I would definitely make the Victoria Blazer that I have seen recently on "noodle head" blog with Anna. Course, that means I have to buy the pattern. Lol. The Mood gift certificate would be spent on some stretch denim for sure.

  44. Happy anniversary Lori - what a generous giveaway! I browse Mood's site quite often, but have only purchased from them twice (once for plaid fabric you used to make an Archer). I would use the gift certificate to buy fabric that I would normally be afraid to sew with, like silk.

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is such a generous giveaway! I would definitely buy beautiful prints, knit or woven - they are so hard to come buy where I live.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lovely fabric indeed! If it's the gift card, a beautiful piece of silk, of course!. I've had my eye on several silk prints for some time now to make shirt or two. If it's the pictured fabric, I have a nephew getting married this fall and a dress out of the two fabrics could be lovely. Already have a pattern in mind. Thanks for the generous offer. Hope I get lucky!!

  47. I think I would buy some shirting fabrics to make more Archers!

  51. How generous of you! I'm getting back into make clothes for myself so with the fabric I'd make a jacket or vest and blouse and with the card I'd buy some fabric for the same! Congratulations on your blog and your wonderful projects you share.

  52. Congratulations and thank you are in order! I love your blog. You have encouraged me to keep sewing and improving my skills. I window shop mood all the time, but never have clicked the order button. I would make a bag with the quilted and a top with the silk. I am into making necklaces with silk scraps these days. So that would definitely be in the mix as well.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I would make a dress for my daughter with the silk. I've never shopped at mood so it would take me awhile to pick!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I love your blog Lori! And thanks so much for these great giveaways you are doing too! I have been browsing Mood Fabrics and have a few fabrics in mind that I would definitely purchase. With that beautiful fabric you have, I would make a jacket. Have a great idea that includes patchwork and embellishment!

I can't decide what to make with the fabrics but I would take the Mood card right over to Mood LA for an hour of enjoying touching fabric and looking for just the right fabric for Sandra Betzina's new jacket!
