I saw these patterns on Instagram, my favorite social media, by the way. It was the name of pattern group which got me right away, Just Add Jeans from Pattern Anthology. With my job, jeans are almost a daily part of my wardrobe.
My first pattern to try was Day Tripper using a knit from Mood Fabrics and ribbing from my stash.
The pattern is quick to make, I left out the side pockets.
Some changes for next time:
I do like this pattern and the finished top. I find it is always great to make that first one and then go one to many more with those few little changes that makes the garment just right for you.
With knit tops, I tend to jump right in and make that top. Many times I can make some adjustments to that first one and it is wearable.
That is story on this top, wearable and good for work but I know my next one will be so much better!
What about you? How do you go about a knit top.

Some changes for next time:
- go down a side (it is oversized, I just don't like it too oversized)
- add the cute epaulets
- use a fabric I like better with knit ribbing that blends and/or coordinates. I feel like the white sticks out too much.

It is lovely Lori! I just made this top as well, and went down a size for the same reasons that you state. I can also see myself make multiple versions of this. I love that all the raw edges are finished with another knit band.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Isabelle, I agree mulitples of this top would be good.
DeleteCute top! I like to compare pattern measurements to other similar tops already in my wardrobe (a la Peggy Sager).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenny, good advice.
DeleteCute top and I like the white trim.
ReplyDeleteThanks, the white trim is growing on me!
DeleteThis is really, really cute! I love it on you! I actually like the white ribbing- it looks really fresh and clean.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sonja, it is summery looking.
DeleteThis cute and I'm sure the next versions will be your new loves too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it seems second time around is always better.
DeleteA cute top that looks great for the summer! In my humble opinion, the blue colors in the fabric are a great color for you :).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dharma, I love blues that is for sure.
