Time for the second shirt I made from the Patterns for Pirates line.
This one is the Pumpkin Spice Dolman Shirt
The fabric is a ponte from Fabric Mart, a most perfect ponte and is just right for this pattern. I did cut the neckline on the bias to add some interest.
I wanted to add the elbow patches on this top and went to my local shoe repair shop. I was able to purchase a small scrap of leather for $2. The elbow patches are a such a nice feature on this top and I will just take special care in laundering this top.
If all fails with the washing, I will just remove the elbow patches.
I did remove some of the excess from under the arms and side seams of this garment, it was just a bit too full for me.
The folds around the bust and upper chest are just the pattern and shape of the body of the shirt.
One thing for sure is is one comfy top, it feels good and looks good. I think you can dress it up or dress it down. Do note the sleeves are tight in the forearms and wrists, so if you want more room, adjust this piece.
Some of you asked about my booties, they are from 2 years ago, a sale purchase. I found them online but all sold out. In case you are curious her is the link to the
BCBGenerations booties
Disclosure - I was given these two Patterns for Pirates in exchange for making the patterns and showing off the finished garments on my blog. The opinions of the garments are all mine.
This top looks great. Like how you did the stripes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donna, that is a favorite of mine to do the neckline that way.
DeleteLove the blue and white stipes!
ReplyDeleteJoen, it is great fabric. Thanks.
DeleteI adore the addition the leather elbow patches, great idea!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun. The shoe repair shop does repair on chaps, saddles, etc, so I thought they would have a scrap of leather. It was perfect and cheap!
DeleteThe elbow patches are super cute--I noticed that detail on someone's shirt while out to lunch the other day and thought "I have to replicate that!"
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kyle, that detail seems to be popping up more and more in RTW.
DeleteCute top!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Levone.
DeleteAnother wonderful top!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Irene
DeleteLovely top and great addition with the leather! I have washed leather many a times (whether I am supposed to or not). I just wash on cold and hang to dry with a light iron if it gets a bit wrinkly.
ReplyDeleteThanks, for the leather washing tip, Stacy, sounds easy.
DeleteVery nice! I have a very similar fabric in my stash, I may just give this pattern a go.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Thank so much for sharing Lori!♡♡♡
