This one from Style Arc called Nikki Dress looks like a winner, if you want the collar band only just omit the collar from the construction

Sometimes with dresses, I have a hard time seeing the dress and the pattern. It might be due to the fact I don't sew many dresses, thus I don't study them much. I decided to do some searching through the designer Vogue patterns and then look for the designer original. I found this beautiful Tracy Reese at Neiman Marcus

I think McCall's 6700 is perfect for that Donna Karen look but it is out-of-print. So if you have it take a look for this inspiration

I love the maxi dress! Just think of all the money I would save sewing it for myself. I would feel so self righteous!!
ReplyDeleteI did purchase the McCall's 7092 with a maxi dress in mind for the summer. They are so comfortable when the summer heat.
ReplyDeleteYou showed a couple of patterns that I need to add to my list. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI took a Lutterloh pattern making class and I recall the instructor saying there are only about 2,500 different combinations of bodices, sleeves, collars, necklines, etc. So you're bound to find a pattern to capture the design elements in designer RTW. This is where the skill of pattern drafting can come in very handy to re-draw an armseye or waistline if you have to Frankenpattern. Thanks for these ideas. V9053 needs to be in my sewing queue but knee length.
