It is a new year and that means new projects and new events, right? Also, life changes.
I have been a very infrequent blogger the last 3 weeks but I really had good reason.
First off I didn't realize I needed a break but I guess I really did. I did not touch my laptop much during my weeks off. I did touch my new tablet, gift from hubby, I love that thing and it is so easy and fun to use. Not to mention, the perfect size. I love to use it in my sewing room to watch tv through various apps.
I did make it a point during break to do quite a bit of sewing, when I wasn't on the couch napping or watching TV! Yes, I was a bit of a couch potato, I will admit that.
After a bit of organizing in the sewing room, I had to get my quilting cotton purchases under control. I completed 2 quilt tops - one was a lap size from
Bonnie and Camille's April Showers
I used two jelly rolls for this but did omit all the fabric with the umbrellas, they just were not my style and in my opinion looked very 30's fabric.
Next up was a twin size quilt from
Heather Bailey's Up Parasol
plus some scraps from stash.
Using this pattern, Cheerio, which I had in a quilting magazine.
I will put up pictures after they are back from the quilter and the binding is on.
Now before Christmas, I did not do much sewing at all. On December 9th, Erin, #2 daughter, had shoulder surgery. For those long time readers, Erin was the high school softball pitcher. She has had one surgery on her pitching shoulder and now needed another one. She was in an immobilizer and could not drive or pick up little guy. Her husband works long hours like my husband, so between myself and the twins (home for Christmas break during part of this) we were on duty quite a bit.
Now for the big news and change, Kaitlyn (youngest twin) is officially engaged and the date is set for August 1st!
I won't be doing much sewing for this wedding (like the other two), probably a flower girl dress. That is just fine with me and the dress shopping starts Saturday.
So you are caught up with family news and all my non-sewing excuses. I am close to finishing my denim Ginger jeans and I do think the fit is going to be really good. I am hoping to attach the waistband and then hem them tonight for a finish. These will be my Mood Sewing Network project next week. If I can get them done tonight and photographed on Thursday before dark, then maybe on Friday, but we will see.
Happy sewing in 2015.
Lori,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the engagement !!!!! I wanted to link back on the blue houndstooth dress to see the fabric & pattern but I can't get the link to work. Not sure if it's on my end or yours ?
Happy New Year
