I have mentioned my quilt club and our projects. This latest quilt is right up there with one of my very favorites. This one is round robin style and each month the owner of the quilt shop had pattern for the next border/section.
The first month was the middle block and we were told to purchase about 5 yards of a background fabric. I selected a gray for my background
Pinterest is a great resource to see lots of examples of Round Robin quilts. Meredith, my friend and quilt shop owner, set up a board and the two of us pinned so many Round Robin quilts. From these, Meredith started to design this quilt. Depending on the complexity of the borders, we were given one or two borders
For example, the larger block with in a block was our first project for Month One. Month Two, was the checker board border and the solid border. Now onto Month Three, the log cabin blocks on the top and bottom, which was a good thing, our quilt was no longer square.
The pinwheels were a bit challenging but really set off the entire quilt and on the bed, this pinwheels are the last design element before the quilt falls off to the side of the mattress.
The aqua seems to jump out at you in these pictures, but in person, it just is a nice accent and adds just the pop the navy and gray needs.
I made one change to the pattern. The outer border instruction was a strip border which is beautiful and looks great on the quilts from other club members. I just wanted to change something up and felt flying geese would be such a nice touch.
I love this quilt and it is looking great in a guest bedroom with all the navy I have in that room. Here is the
first quilt we made as a club project, look how my colors are oh so different between these two quilts
