Burda 6848 Top

This is a Burda pattern, one of the young styles and at one of the Joann's Burda sales I picket it up.  This pattern and this fabric also from Joann's.

One thing for sure this young style is not suitable for this Nana/Mom!
The sleeves are so narrow my arms feel like sausages.  I do lift weights and am very quick to build bicep muscle but I don't think my arms are that big.  In this pictures you can see how the neckline isn't very nice.  This is the pattern and the poor fabric.  The fabric has no lycra.
 No lycra = bad neckline.
True, it is a proven equation.  I will recite that equation anytime I am fabric shopping.

I added 1" to the bodice but that wasn't needed, it hits funny and not a good position.

There really isn't much to say about this pattern.  It isn't for me but it does have some nice features, the gathers and crossover bodice.  I won't try it again but I will be more careful in my knit purchases in the future.

I did not keep the top and I did not put it into the donation pile.  It in fact went into the trash, the neckline was so big it just kept falling open and others areas were a hot mess, too.  I didn't feel right giving it away.

  1. Too bad about this top being a wadder, these things do happen now and then.

  3. I made a similar style and didn't like it on either. I do believe I trashed it too couldn't decided if it was my fabric choice, pattern, or my body LOL

  4. If the sleeves are too tight for you, how are the rest of us going to fit in them? This is a trend I've also seen in RTW. I bought my daughter, who is a thin teenager, some cardigans from Target and she could barely get her arms in them. We took them back, but surely these tight sleeves fit very few people.
