Cheerio Quilt
At the end of 2014, I didn't blog much and spent time with family and making a couple of quilts. I wanted to concentrate on controlling the quilting cotton. Back from the long arm quilter is one of these quilts based on pattern by Camille Roskelley
The fabric contains a bundle of fat eights which are Heather Bailey's Up Parasol
I included fabrics from my stash and scrap bins to make this quilt almost twin size. I ran out of fabric and steam but really wanted the twin size. Why? I thought sometime in the future it would be a cute quilt on a granddaughter's twin bed. Now remember, I only have one grandson currently! I am a planner what can I say.
The pattern is Cheerio by Thimble Blossoms but I used the pattern from
Love Patchwork and Quilting (issue 8)
It went together nicely and I really love the look of this pattern with the floral and girly prints of Up Parasol. It needed a border to make the quilt twin size and usually I am not a border person. I made an exception, as I just didn't want to make more blocks so a border was the choice. Meredith picked out the floral fabric, I wasn't quilt sure but I do like how it looks on the quilt. It really finishes it off and goes with the girl themem

DeleteThis is beautiful! I love the bright colors and the round cheerio shape is so fun and unique! Don't feel bad for your planning- my mom started stashing fun children's toys for her future grandchildren at least a decade before the first one was born!
ReplyDeleteI like the way your mom thinks. Thanks so much.
