Scout Woven T-shirt


Raise your hand if you hate to let leftover fabric go to waste?  Yes, my hand is in the air, too

That is how this Scout Woven T-shirt came about

The fabric is lightweight suiting from these pants.  Crazy, right suiting fabric for a top?  I really thought it was lightweight enough to work for a top.  Well, it wasn't a great plan as the fabric doesn't drape the best in a top and sticks out from the body.

I did add some side slits to add some interest

A few good things on this top

  1. I had off-white in the serger.
  2. I did get the fabric used and off my shelf
  3. It didn't take  long to make.

I am going to ponder my make and the not perfect match of the fabric and the pattern.  It will be worn with a jacket or a cardigan to help with the puffy factor.



I do know I love this top in the right fabric, like this Thakoon fabric and the ivory fabric in the great Vogue pants, which I wear all the time!

    I agree, the Scout is a great way to use scraps! I recently made one in cotton, and I cropped it - works great over pants and skirts. Took it up 4" - might work with your top!

    Kudos for using up scraps . That's an on going challenge fo me. I have made 2 Scouts but don't love either version. Since I'm busty they puff out & hang out . I seem to wear the Belcarra tee more.
    I like how you always put a positive spin on your sees

    I hate leaving leftovers, too! Everything must be sewn! :D Dartless tees are always a challenge, aren't they? I've made some cute Scouts and a couple of stinkers where I didn't think about how stiff the fabric was before cutting into it! My stiffest tee still gets worn, but I wear a long necklace with it to sort of weigh down the front so it's not as puffy. :)
