A group of us sew on the 4th Wednesday of the month. One Wednesday I grabbed my container and went to work on this beauty. It is about a twin size and I love how it turned out. Jay Bird Quilt's Sidekick ruler is amazing and makes for the most perfect quilt blocks.
I had planned to make this a queen size quilt but I ran out of steam and motivation. The lack of motivation was quickly followed by no more reddish-pink fabric. This was like a sign, the quilt is finished! I was thrilled with the look, the size and the fact it was done.
My local long arm quilter did a custom job on this quilt. A custom quilting job is more pricey but I felt this quilt deserved something special. I love how she quilted it and it is just perfect.
What a stunning quilt Lori! I love the dark background. I am also a quilter and garment sewer. I find it nice to do a little patchwork between garments.
ReplyDeletethanks, Lisa, I am so thrilled with the colors. I find the patchwork relaxing and really helps when I am feeling very unsettled. Just sewing straight lines I can handle that.
DeleteThis quilt is so pretty & I love the colors . You always mange to balance your sewing, quilting etc. Quilting is slightly easier than garment sewing to put aside for a time . Great job
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary Ellen, you are right quilting is easy to set aside. I have started making myself notes on pattern instructions when I have to leave a project for several days.
DeleteJust beautiful Lori! I love the navy background it makes the flowers pop.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joen, I love the navy background
DeleteLove the contrast. Really pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
DeleteThis quilt is beautiful! Love the colors!! The clothes you make are wonderful too! You always inspire me. :))
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, you are so kind.
DeleteLori, this quilt is absolutely stunning!! I really love it. The contrast between the navy and pink is really striking, and I love how you combined so many different pink fabrics into the stars/flowers. And the quilting is jaw-dropping! The long-armer did a fantastic job. All that piecing work truly makes for an heirloom piece. I hope you get lots of use out of this quilt over the years. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved picking out the fabrics for the stars, it was so fun. Thanks so much, I love this quilt and maybe someday it will be on a grandchild's bed!
DeleteWow! This combination of fabrics, pattern, and quilting is amazing. You have a wonderful eye.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anna, it is a striking fabric combination.
DeleteCharming! quilting can be so relaxing...
ReplyDeleteThank you and you are right relaxing.
DeleteBeautiful quilt! I would love to make a quilt one day.

This is so, so pretty! My garment sewing has been pretty lousy lately, so I haven't really felt like sewing. But I cut out some quilt blocks today and it's reenergized me! :) Quilting really scratches a different itch, doesn't it? And like you said, it's nice that you can work on it a little bit at a time.
