It can have a vintage look to it when sewn in a fabric such as rayon challis or something with some drape to it. It can have a more modern look to it when sewn in a crisp linen or cotton.
Double Gauze is a bit thicker so I used some purchased bias binding to finish the arms and neckline. I I love this Mississippi Top so much, that I just need to hem a dress from this same pattern. The neckline, fit and front panel all combine for such a fabulous look. My only adjustment was to lengthen the bodice above the waist by 1". I did omit the ties at the shoulders and do like this look, once again the thickness of my fabric was the consideration for the change.
Don't forget to head over to purchase your bundle before the day ends, you will love all the patterns. Check out the other participating bloggers to see the fabulous garments made from the patterns

My tip for the day.... On fabrics that are hard to tell right/wrong side, for example my double gauze. I write on the pattern instruction sheet if it is RST or WST, using a pen that disappears with heat (iron touches it). I really like this especially when I start a project and don't get back to it for a few days. Saves time and frustration!
They look great on you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacy, if you make the trousers, the legs need slimming.
DeleteThanks for all your tips & info. Is the red print the same print you used for a blue skirt earlier this summer ? You have the best eye for color - maybe that's why your garden is also so amazing !!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary Ellen, not it isn't that same print. This red print is actually little circles. I love my color!
DeleteReally like to cut of the trousers. I had to cut two sleeves out the other day for a top I was making because I made to right sleeves so I will be marking the RST next time!
ReplyDeleteThe trousers have a good shape. I have done that so many times with the right/wrong side, I had to come up with a solution.
DeleteBoth came out really well! I like the whole look.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan, so do I!
DeleteYou look gorgeous in those pieces. Perfect fit and perfect fabrics. Too bad I'm not buying any more patterns plus I don't have a printer anymore which makes not buying patterns easier. I would make that outfit, too!
ReplyDeleteJustine, that does make it though without a printer. Good luck on your pattern no buying.
DeleteLovely outfit and looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sheila, I do really like this one.
DeleteThese stylish and flattering, nautical type of pants are slightly flared and high waisted with a lot of button detailing. Women need to wear these sailor pants with a nautical-style tee-shirt or a pure silk blouse along with shoes that are bright coloured.
