Christmas Pajamas
Last year I decided to start a new tradition, Christmas Pajamas for the grands. Right now there are grandsons so the youngest two - ages 1 and 3 are getting these cute Santa on a horse. The fabric came from Fabric Fairy
This exact fabric looks sold out but they have some other cute prints. The pattern came from
Kwik Sew Sewing For Toddlers. When I started this tradition last year, I included a book with the pajamas. I am going with one of my daughters' favorite authors, Jan Brett. The loved the story and the illustrations. This year it is The Hat
One of our girls is engaged to a nice young man and he has an 8 year old boy. I made him a pair of flannel pj pants from Kwik Sew Sewing for Children and the flannel is from Joann's

Rayon-Silk Bomber - McCall's 7100
I love the look of a bomber jacket and started thinking about fabric and something for the holidays. My thoughts lead to the hot fabric right now, velvet and I headed right over to Pinterest for ideas. I was on track as I saw several velvet bomber jackets and I knew I had my Christmas look. My fabric is Mood Fabrics Sultan Red Soft Rayon-Silk Velvet, which is available in 7 more colors.

Simplicity 8131
French seams were the finish of choice on my blouse and there were just a few of those. The side, lower armscye, and shoulder seam, making it very simple.
Now for the other seams, the pattern does include nice bias facings for the cold shoulder openings
I did have to work with my machine’s tension to get a nice seam for the poly crepe de chine
I really enjoyed the process of sewing this blouse, it had simple seaming but some challenges with the bias facings and ties. I am still on the fence on how I feel on the cold shoulder look for me but will give this a try.
Now I have to tell you, I don't like this blouse on me at all! It doesn't really do anything for me, the print is pretty busy and I have tension issues in the seems. The blouse has already been donated.
Disclosure - I receive a monthly fabric allowance from Mood Fabrics to make a garment. This garment is blogged at Mood Sewing Network first and then I will blog here about this garment.

Simplicity 8084 - Polka Dot Fun
What do you do when fall doesn't come around? Well, I am just going to keep sewing for the temperatures. We are fluctuating from 60 degrees to mid-80 degrees, so I pulled out Mood Fabrics' Navy Polka Dotted Rayon Challis and went to work on a great dress that I can wear now and later.

Kwik Sew 4154
Remember when it was time to transition from a college student wardrobe to a professional wardrobe? Well, that time is now for Kaitlyn, as she will be student teaching next semester. One day Kaitlyn asked about some of the clothes I made and one thing led to another and now she is getting some mom-made garments.
