I have started doing hot yoga two times a week and I love it. I can feel myself getting stronger and more flexible, which was my number one reason for going.
This fabric is from My Fabric Designs and specifically the performance knit
The fabric has a great feel and is moisture wicking, a plus after hot yoga. The fabric was very easy to sew and for the most part was constructed on my serger. I did use my regular sewing machine for the zipper.
Love this picture, Junior is looking one way and I am staring the other and we are both to intent.
The pattern I used was Jalie 2682, I wanted the 1/4 zip look and I have made this one before. My only change was to add 1" the the front and back bodice.
I am a bit off on my zig and zags on each side of my zipper, which aggravates me a bit. The front bodice is lined with the same fabric and wouldn't you know those zig-zags match perfectly!
To show I am learning new things in yoga and how nice this performance knit works, I will start in prayer and work on growing my tree.

Yes, I can do a very nice tree and even better in class with no shoes and my feet really planted firmly on solid, level ground.
My initial plans when ordering this fabric was for yoga pants. One thing I didn't think of is the white, you know when you stretch this it gets thinner and a bit see-through. I do want to make yoga pants but I will look for a dark background fabric!
My Fabric Designs has generously offered a yard of fabric to be given to one reader. Leave a comment if you would design your own fabric or pick one of the many, many available designs.
I will pick a winner on Thursday, March 4th, so the drawing ends midnight central time on March 3rd.
Disclosure I received this fabric as an allowance from My Fabric Designs. I was able to select the fabric and what I wanted to create from the fabric. The opinions of the fabric are all mine.
This turned out really well Lori. What a lot of choice they have which is great as my designing talent is zero.
ReplyDeleteI've made this top too, I love it for running in cooler weather! I found it too tight around the hips though, I need to retrace my pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love some of the floral designs on the site, unusual to see florals in wicking fabric, but I think they would look great!
I love this top and have made it as well. I would love some new fun fabric for spring workouts! Just what I need to keep me motivated.
ReplyDeleteLove the top Lori! Nothing like new workout wear to help motivate!
ReplyDeleteYou really nailed it with this top ! The fit is perfect . Great fabric choice also !
ReplyDeleteI've not attempted workout wear , but it is on my list as I'm tall .
Cute top Lori! I checked out My Fabric Designs, wow - they have a lot of fabrics! There is a darling construction/trucks print that would make some pretty great pj's for my youngest!
ReplyDeleteLove this. Another gorgeous creation.
ReplyDeleteLove that the fabric has moisture wicking! I love Yoga too! Nameste
ReplyDeleteI would choose a design already made. I use to go to yoga. This is a nice reminder I need to go back.

ReplyDeleteHow fun to be able to design your own fabric! I would probably chose one already made though as there are so many great choices.
ReplyDeleteLove your top. I would choose one of the available designs; I'm drawn to the elephant facet.
ReplyDeleteVery cute top! I may have to put this on my sewing queue. I'd choose a fabric already available (unless I had a sudden inspiration for my own design!)
ReplyDeleteFantastic sewing as usual! I would pick a fabric already available, I saw one with kittens and my daughter would love it!
ReplyDeleteNice top! What a perfect choice for after a tough workout. I reckon I would design my own fabric as that's something I've always wanted to try.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great top! I'd probably go with a fabric already available. Was this the same source for the fabric in the book bag you made for your daughter awhile back? That was really nice.
ReplyDeleteVery Nice!
ReplyDeleteThe top looks great, and I am sure most people wouldn't notice that the zigzags are off. I'd like to try yoga someday, and I know there is a place close by. I don't think it has hot yoga, though. I think I would have a hard time breathing with that, since my sports induced asthma gets worse when it is too hot. :(
ReplyDeleteAs usual, you did an impressive job of matching fabric and pattern. You look great wearing this top! I like your photos - nice tree pose. I love so many of the designs from My Fabric Designs. The moisture wicking performance knit is a good idea for yoga outfits.

ReplyDeleteLooks great! I just made my first activewear and am itching to make more!
ReplyDeleteI finally visited your blog after stumbling upon your podcast, which I've been listening to every day for like 10 days. And to read that you're a hot yoga fan, just like I am, made me want to comment :) Love your blog as much as your pod cast :)

If you need to wear boots for a long time then you should use moisture-wicking socks. Because moisture-wicking socks can keep your feet dry when you sweat. However, to buy the best moisture-wicking socks online you can visit the Work Gearz website.
