You know when you really like a pattern, you just have to make it again. That is the way I feel about the Morris Blazer, it is such a great basic and fits into my lifestyle perfectly.
I have made the Morris twice before and I wear those quite frequently. I did want to make one that would go with a few more things. I bought this incredible Style Maker Fabrics' French Terry Ponte in gray and white. Gray seems to go with everything and the stripes are fun.
I did add 3 inches for the sleeves, I wanted full length sleeves but I like to roll them up, too.
In my stash, I had this fun knit to use for the facing of the sleeve. This is so perfect for when I want to roll up the sleeves . I did make this contrast facing extra long so I could roll up the sleeves twice.
I am so pleased with how the stripes match on the body and the sleeves.
The back with the center seam. I am contemplating adding 2 to 3 inches in length the next time I make this pattern.
So if you need a great pattern that is quick but looks fabulous go with the Morris. Also, this ponte from Style Maker Fabrics it is top notch.
Great jacket. A striped Morris blazer is so high on my sewing list I'm a little sad that you beat me to it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gail, this is my second striped one and I am sure it won't be my last. I love stripes
DeleteLovely jacket and looks great worth the pop of color.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sheila, it will be a great neautral for all my bright tops.
DeleteWhat did you use to line up your stripes for the sleeves and body? The underarm? It looks so good!

Love the fabric, perfect for spring! Really think I need that pattern.
ReplyDeleteYes, you do need this pattern! Thanks
DeleteWhat a great blazer! You should be able to wear that with lots of things. I love the facing on the sleeves, too. I am a sleeve roller as well.
ReplyDeleteI think it will go with so much in my closet. Sleeve rolling happens when we are tall and RTW isn't long enough most of the time! LOL
DeleteHi Lori - I asked you on Instagram about serging your seams . So you serged the seams together to make one seam . I think I was thinking that you could serge each edge to clean finish then sew together . In other words you mostly serged the jacket - minimal sewing ???

Love every version of this - stripes are wonderful
DeleteYes, that is what I did, Mary Ellen, one sewing pass with the serger. I like to use the serger only on knits, then no breaking of threads if the fabric is stretched.
DeleteWow,it looks so beautiful, Lori.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
DeleteI love your styling with this jacket! I am looking forward to seeing your lengthened version.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anna, now to find great fabric for a longer version!
DeleteI like this in a stripe also! I may have to give this one a try.
ReplyDeleteStripes are just so fun.
DeleteYES! I admit...I was kinda waiting for this jacket to show up on your blog, LOL! And, I'm happy it did! It might be simple, but it definitely has a big impact! LOVE the sleeve facing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue, you know me so well! The facing is just fun I think.
DeleteBeautiful - great job matching those stripes!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Tomasa

ReplyDeleteThanks, Carolyn, me too! LOL
