Last day of gift sewing - three sets of pillows and table runners. I have already given one set to my mother and a table runner to my mother-in-law so you are seeing two pillows and one table runner.
My idea for these gifts came from Pinterest and this quilt. I purchased one jelly roll and some green yardage for the trees.
Today I had a very good 3-year-old photography assistant and he really liked taking the pictures! We took so many and here are the good ones. What was so funny, he wanted to know why I wasn't taking all the photos with my phone. I brought out my Cannon and the 50mm lens and he was fascinated.
The past few years I have not sewn many gifts for presents and this year I wanted to change that. I thoroughly enjoyed making each one of these gifts. These pillows were pretty quick to make and hopefully they bring a bit of Christmas cheer.
Now the table runners took a bit more time but the look is fun. Thanks goodness for long car rides, that is the only way I seem to get binding finished.
And speaking of binding, I bind the edges of the pillow like a I would a quilt. I make an envelope back for the pillow, put the front and back together wrong sides together. Pinning the edges, I apply the binding and then hand sew it to the wrong side.
Here is a good tutorial and it shows you how to make the binding look like piping
These are so, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks, these gifts were well received by friends and family

ReplyDeleteThanks, Patty, some ladies at quilt club had been doing that and the pillows just really look so nice.
