It took me a couple of weeks to purchase this pattern but I am so happy I did. This is a style I love and the big pockets are a plus.
The fabric is a a peach modal jersey from Style Maker Fabrics and Michelle has several more colors. The only hard part of the sewing was the pockets, my jersey was very slippery. I tried some tissue paper on the wrong side, it helped a bit but still they aren't stitched on perfectly.
While wearing my cardigan on Sunday, I think I will cut the pocket larger and have the bottom sewn in with the bottom band and the sides of the pocket sewn in with the front band and side seam. I am only going to do this on very stretchy fabric but will prevent the issues I had on this one.
Gotta go, working on a navy- white striped cardigan tonight!
So pretty! spring :-) new approach to the pocket should work. I've sewn them into the side seam quite often on jersey, including them in the hem should really cement them! the sizing - I've no idea what your big 4 size is, do you find the sleeves a little snug? thks!
ReplyDeleteLooks very cozy, and I love the color for spring. I think your pocket idea is a great one. Going to file that idea away for my own use. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI lined one of my sweaters pockets with washed quilters cotton and then sewed it to sweater. It worked really well. I cut the cotton lining like an eighth of an inch smaller on width and like an inch shorter at top so it wouldn't show.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Lori! Been thinking of adding peach or blush to my spring wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteLove that colour and Modal is my favourite fabric on the planet! I bet its a dream to wear!
