A new fabric arrived at my house and I couldn't quit touching it. This sweater knit was amazingly soft and I knew I needed to add it quickly to my winter to spring wardrobe.
I added 2" to the length of the sweater but it still seemed too short for me. I had just a bit of fabric left, just enough to add a bottom band for the sweater. It was just a bit shorter than the bottom width of the sweater, perfect it drew in the bottom edge for a tighter fit at the hips.
Here is a better look at the waistband.
It seems the fashion emphasis is on sleeves and this pattern showcases a dramatic sleeve
I added an inch to the sleeve length but I ended up taking that extra inch off. I was amazed at this as I have long arms and an inch sometimes just isn't quite enough. Pleasant surprise.
Here is the best picture of the sweater, I noticed while taking the pictures, I didn't have the neckline sitting quite right.
I really liked sewing this pattern, it was quick but fun to make and I always love a v-neck.
One last picture, I thought I would sit down for a couple of pictures, but Junior had other ideas and about pushed me off the steps!
Beautiful Sweater Lori! Love your idea about sewing on a waist band - I'll have to remember that! I'm tall as well and typically do have to lengthen most patterns but sometimes a waist band just adds more of what you might want ie bringing in the bottom for a closer fit!
ReplyDeleteThe color, the fit, the SLEEVES - all perfection!
ReplyDeleteI have this pattern also and was so fixated on the pants didn't notice the top!LOL Looks great love your changes will give this a try.
ReplyDeleteVery cute Lori!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the waistband and the wide sleeves. The fabric seems gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteThe top looks so good!! The bell sleeves are a nice design detail. I have that fabric and it is very soft. Style Maker fabrics carries good quality material.
