This Maxi Dress is love at first sight and I am not sure which sight I mean. At first sight when I initially made this pattern, first sight when this fabric arrived at my door or first sight when I put on the finished maxi dress. I think I will just say all of the above and I so happy this maxi dress.
Simplicity 8084 is the pattern, a Mimi G Pattern and I have made it before in the shorter version. I just love this dress and the style looks good on my "H" shape.
I purchased this rayon fabric at Style Maker Fabrics back in May and it is the best fabric I have ever sewn. The hand and feel of this Birch floral by Rifle Paper Co. for Cotton and Steel is simply amazing
I
I made a change from my first dress, I added a bit to the back shoulders and to the corresponding sleeve. This was just right and the dress feel better.
Now my polka dot dress is short and I really wanted this dress to touch the floor, I added lots of length. The drawstring waist with the blousing of the bodice makes it a bit difficult to determine how much extra length you will need.
I had an extra 2 inches which I did cut off, and I am so pleased with the hem right at the floor.
You can see it best in this photo - no wind.
Now it is time for photo overload, I love this dress and it shows with my big smile. Don't you love when it is like the perfect garment and it feels so right when you wear your new garment?
The wind caught the skirt just right!
I cannot say enough for this pattern or this fabric. The combination is perfect and I love my new maxi dress. I am sure you can tell from the photo overload how much I love this dress. My only regret is it took me 2 months to sew up this fabric!
Lori this dress looks so good!! I also really liked the shorter version. This pattern needs to be in your top 5 pile!!
