I made it by one day, getting my last entry into #Sleevefest2017
Sleeve Fest is hosted by Dream Cut Sew and Valentine & Stitch and thanks so much ladies, it has been so fun seeing all the creativity!
On Instagram I follow LiketoKnow.it and there is always RTW inspiration. Just like the photo and you get an email (after you sign up) with all the details of the person's outfit. If you go and buy this outfit the person will be compensated. I love it for inspiration and outfit ideas.
I did get my inspiration for Sleeve Fest and it is this top at Nordstrom and I used Simplicity 8337. This Simplicity pattern is a bit boxy and my inspiration piece was boxy, too
Silly picture, but I wanted you to see the tie.
I made one ruffle 6 inches and the second one 4 inches. Now the length I couldn't tell you, I just cut. The tie was cut 2 inches wide and I stitched it with a 3/8" seam allowance.
I rolled edged on my serger the top and bottom of the each ruffle piece. Stitched the back seam, ruffles together and then gathered the top. I pinned the ruffle on my sleeve to get the right length I wanted. Which was exactly 6 inches, which I marked on the sleeve and put the top edge of my ruffle on the mark. I stitched the ruffle onto the sleeve at 5/8" and then stitched the tie right on the first stitching line. Tied the bow and then cut the extra off. The ties ends are knotted.
The knit and stripe are from Mood but have been in my stash for a while. I do think I am going to start making a small in this pattern, the top is just a bit too big.
Just wanted to show my roses, but the tall one looks a bit bare, can't keep the bugs from eating the leaves.
Here is a good picture of the sleeves
Now I am laughing so hard because I just fell in a hole the photo before this one
I recovered and look it shows the sleeves in action!
Here is one of my roses, just wanted to take a photo and share.
I really think this is a great top with a little flair!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it was fun to create.

ReplyDeleteI love this top! The colours in the strips are perfect and the way you styled it with those sage/grey jeans and fab booties is spot on. What a great early Fall outfit.
