Red Gingham Archer

Red and white gingham Archer Shirt by Grainline Studio made with fabric from Indiesew.

The Archer Shirt has to be my favorite pattern and the most made and most loved.

I just finished this beautiful red gingham one, the fabric came from IndieSew last year and has a nice soft hand.  Please note, this is a true red, the bright sunshine and my white jeans makes it look a bit pinkish.

I love this shirt and so happy I got this gingham sewn up.  I did do a few things differently and kept some things the same.

So first, the Grainline Studio's Archer Shirtis available in a pdf or paper pattern and here are the other ones I have made.

Now what I have kept the same, mainly the bias for the front placket, the cuff and the yoke

Now take a look at the placket, under the buttons.  Do you see the ribbon?  I added the ribbon to that side of the placket.

My husband has some shirts from Cinch and some of these have this detail.  Then I saw this feature on Handmade by Carolyn's blog and it reminded me to use it.

I decided to use this same ribbon to finish the sleeve seam, a nice detail when the sleeves are rolled up

So for whatever number of Archer this is, I love it as much as the first one and I have another one on my cutting table.  That one is peach and white gingham and a beautiful lavender gingham one will be next up.

  4. Oh my goodness, I love that ribbon finish! I mean, I love anything gingham and this shirt wins on all fronts. I love too, how you've placed the buttons on the red parts of the gingham

I have my Archer PDF, not yet printed out, and I have a yummy pink gingham waiting to be sewn. I'm going to try and find some ribbon to match!

    1. I love gingham, too. Well, the button placement was just the measurements, lucky. You will have to use your Archer.
