Yes, today, Girls in the Garden is 12 years old!!!
What started as an idea at my kitchen table after finding all these amazing sewing and crafting blogs online, turned into an amazing 12 years of sewing, amazing opportunities, sewing friends and the biggest bonus....being part of this amazing online sewing community.
My first project was a baby gift and I got 4 comments. I was amazed and so excited.
Here is the photo on August 27, 2006 and I only included one photo on my blog! I did link to my review on Pattern Review with a few more photos and they are so small.
Now the biggest part of this anniversary, I still have this jacket, 12 years later. I don't have many of me-made garments from 12 years ago, but I have always loved this jacket. It stays in my closet and it will probably always will.
Now this jacket still fits and I think looks current. The fabric is amazing, a Nanette Lepore, purchased from a Yahoo Group, a fabric coop. I went out today and took some photos, me wearing the jacket, seemed appropriate for a blog anniversary.
Before I bombard this post with many, many pictures of this jacket, I just want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for 12 years of blog comments, emails, Pattern Review comments, Instagram comments and direct messages, I appreciate each and everyone of them. I am so thankful for this sewing passion and the ability I have been given to turn fabric into garments. The online sewing community is the best, so full of sewing information and encouragement and helpful advice.
So here it is, with piping and button loops and lining.
and the back
Once again, a big thank you!
