Let's talk about how I did these fabulous details on the Pfaff Creative Icon, which were all done in the embroidery mode in the hoop!
These are all about the details I added to my Simplicity 8451 red wool coat
Everyday I learn more incredible things this Pfaff sewing/embroidery machine will do. One of those new things is using the decorative stitches in the Embroidery Machine. Let's talk about how we would do this.
One thing to do is measure the piece you want to add stitches, make sure it is metric - millimeters to be exact. This is my welt.
Now to the Pfaff Creative Icon, Embroidery Edit and pull in the stitch you want. This one is the "X" in 1.4 menu eyelets - I love that little "x"
See the bottom right - stitch creator, that is what we are going into next. In stitch creator you can multiply the number of stitches you want. Now that number above is important, you can find the length of your stitch and divide that into your total length. Ta -da you know the number of repeats.
Please know all of this information is in my highlights on Instagram, plus videos to show you how-to.
Here is the welt
The sleeve tabs were done the same way but I added a buttonhole to the embroidery stitchout in addition to the decorative stitches.
Now the overlay is long and I needed two hoopings, but no worries, the Pfaff Creative Icon has Precise Positioning. Here is a pdf lesson on Precise Positioning which explains it all
The buttonhole was added in another hooping, here it is
Here is the buttonhole I used, just changing the size and density, and the buttonhole is 9
I hope this helps to explain my process. This machine is fabulous and fun and has changed the way I look at my sewing and garments. Thanks for sharing the journey with me.
I do have to give credit to Nadine, (aka Embroidery M.O.M) another Pfaff Ambassador. Nadine has a Facebook group Embroidery M.O.M for lots of tips. There is also a private group with a subscription, Icon-spiration Pfaff Icon Workshop Series. I am enrolled in this one, learning so much every step with a fabulous teacher.
I loved this post. I also have the Creative Icon and am enrolled in Nadine’s Icon-spiration class. It is nice to see the details of how you accomplish this in garment sewing. Your coat is beautiful.
