Valentine's Day is coming up and I had this idea for my two granddaughters. I love how these turned out and be forewarn, this blog post is photo overload!
I have been taking Icon lessons via a Facebook group by Embroidery M.O.M and they are fabulous. Nadine always has great projects and I watch the lessons and learn so much. I do process the information and I can usually find a way to use that information into a garment.
This time the lesson was Applique Creator, which is amazing. Sometimes, as with you, ideas just come to us. This is the way this idea came, I was sewing another project and I stopped that project and went right to this project. That is something for me, I am usually a finish one project completely before I go to another project.
So first step is to go in to Embroidery, then select Applique Creator. The upper right choice, with the star and circle is the shapes. I went right into there and picked a heart. The Pfaff Creative Icon makes the shape and you can resize it to whatever size you want. Do note you need to pick your hoop size, I went with the 120 x 120.
See the cute hearts, they are different sizes, easy to do on the Icon, just touch the screen and make the shape larger or smaller, just by pinching your fingers. Also, there are different decorative stitches around the hearts. This is done right in Applique Creator, too.
See the stitch button, just below the butterfly? That is where you go pick the stitches, the Pfaff Creative Icon, just pops them right around your shape. Amazing!
A closer look, of the design and how it looks.
Here are the three designs, sizes changed and the hearts angled in directions, all done on screen. Notice one is a circle, with hearts all around. This is an applique, too, but I just didn't use the applique part.
I did one more step, added mini embroidery designs, a couple of different designs. The design is done and ready to stitch out.
I used knit fabric for the centers, if I was using a knit I wanted the applique to stretch a bit also. I might be partial but I love how this turned out and is just so cute for my little cuties. I used the leftover fabric from my Red Dress and the pattern is Simplicity 8706
Here is the leggings just how the girls would wear them, the design running down the side of leg with one design on the front.
So I hope you love these as much as I do!
My cuties are ready for Valentine's Day and I am so happy on how they turned out.
Happy Valentine's Day!
These leggings and design were created on my Pfaff Creative Icon as part of their Ambassador program.
These are adorable. Your granddaughters will love them. I,too, am in Nadine’s classes & have learned so much. She is amazing. The Creative Icon is such an incredible machine.

DeleteSuper cute leggings for your granddaughters! What is the white object with the gold top in the picture? It puzzles me.
ReplyDeleteThanks and it is a Valentine Decoration - a cupcake, trying to use some photo props!
DeleteSo cute..if only I had some little ones to sew for!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I am so happy to have little ones to sew for again. It is so fun.
DeleteDiscovered your site through a comment made on Nadine's ICON site. I'm taking her classes and enjoying everything I learn about my Pfaff ICON. This is a really cute way to use the lessons on Applique Creator. My G'kids are too old for this but I have one Great g'daughter so will keep this in mind. Another one on the way but don't know the gender yet. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nadine is amazing! I have not made her projects as she has them set up on the FB group but love using them on garments.
DeleteFabulous, I'm so jealous I wonder if I could use my creative sensation pro for Marine's lessons. Keep it going Lori, I love these.
