I seem to be embracing jumpsuits this spring, here is my second one in less than a month. My newest one is a good one with so many amazing features.
I was gifted this pattern by Violette Fields Threads and the name is Brynlee Dress and Romper. I love all the features about this pattern
- princess seams
- a waistband
-zipper back
-side ties

- two length for both the dress or romper

-sizing 00-20
I went with the longer romper style and sleeveless version and used a Style Maker Fabrics' linen blend, which has amazing drape.
The instructions for the Brynlee are so thorough and helpful with over 40 color photos to help with the process. As instructed, I made a muslin and went with a size 10 in the bust and waist grading down to an 8 in the hips. I also added one inch to the bodice for my long waist and took off one inch to the rise of the pants. My muslin fabric was very stiff compared to my very drapey linen blend. Next time I will go down to an 8 for the bust and waist with only 1/2" bodice lengthen. I also added a bit to the front curve of the bodice pieces as I just needed a very small FBA
I am so impressed with all the steps of construction for this romper, I found each step easy to follow. I appreciated the color photos in the pdf instructions and found them helpful for the construction process.
The ease is important to note - the bodice has 3/4" ease and the waist has 3-1/2 inch ease, as directed in the instructions, I used the side ties to cinch in the waist
The slash pocket construction is such a good one, with a pocket facing and a full pocket. My fabric is just a bit thicker, so I used a lightweight cotton for the pocket and then cut my pocket facing just a bit bigger than the pattern piece. My pocket lining is a busy fabric so I wanted the facing to cover any possibility of the lining to show.
My bodice lining is the same, you can see it just a bit from my side view photo - the second one on this post. Looking back, I should have matched my lining to the fashion fabric, then this wouldn't have been an issue.
I did a full two inch hem for my long romper, I like the way a deep hem. Also, the thickness of this linen blend made me hesitant to turn up the one inch hem twice.
I enjoyed sewing this pattern and my very pretty romper will make me so happy each time I wear it.
