How good can the wrong side of the the fabric look? Pretty darn good I think!
This is not an original idea, it is one I saw on one of the kids sewing pattern Facebook groups. The person with the idea used a die cutting machine, which I don't have but I do have mySewnet and the perfect font applique.
Here is what I set up. I used a combination of the applique font, a circle applique, Encore feature for the sun's rays and a SuperDesign. I love how many elements are available in the mySewnet software.
I used an applique font which just uses a straight stitch, perfect for the look I wanted. Stay tuned for a full video tutorial for how to set this up
The sweatshirt is perfect for embroidery, the front pattern piece (the solid blue here) which they refer to as pocket piece sits on top of the front pattern piece. Why is this perfect? They back of the embroidery is backed with another soft knit fabric. My grandkids love this, no more itchy embroidery back.

The Fun in the Sun shirt was my second try at this look. The first was with their names
This fabric is from a new to me fabric site, Sugared Sage Fabrics, these French Terry fabrics are so soft.
