Chalk and Notch new pattern and I knew right away I needed to make it.
This pattern is the Isle Jeans and I love the retro look of the pattern, just my style! The pattern needs stretch fabric with at least 10-15% stretch. I purchased a stretch cord from Style Maker Fabrics in brick color and it has 30% stretch, so I had to make some fitting changes on this one.
I printed out a size 8 and size 10, the 10 for the waist. Now I took in about an inch at the hips and about 1/2" at the waist. I am thinking it is the stretch amount, so I will make the same size for my stretch denim. This denim was also purchased from Style Maker Fabrics and it has 15% stretch. I will take around 1/2 inch to an inch out of the rise for my next pair. I am long-waisted and I try a high-waisted jean as is but most of the time I take a bit out of the rise.
The instructions are amazing and currently Chalk and Notch is hosting a sew-along, find it on their Instagram page.
I did add 1 inch to the length above the knee but really just needed 1/4" of this length, I did need to get the knee placement for the flare choice, which is fitted to the knee. This is all the 1970's vibe, which I love.
One problem with taking so much in on the side seams and I didn't notice until these photos, the back pockets are a bit too far apart on my bum. I am not going to change it on this pair but will be aware of this on my next pair.
Try out this pattern, it is such a good one!
The jeans fit wonderfully. I love the flares on you. Eileen
